Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly "nervous" about Prince George's future and "don't want him to grow up too quickly".

George is not known by his royal title of prince when he is in school and the pair are determined to avoid showering him with expensive gifts, it is claimed.

Sources close to William and Kate have revealed how the Cambridges are concerned for how Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are growing up as royals.

The couple, both 39, are especially concerned about their eldest, who turned 8 on July 22 and is third in line to the throne behind dad Wills and grandad Prince Charles.

An insider told US Weekly: “Of course, William and Kate are nervous about what the future holds for George. He’s growing up in a different era to his parents.

"Times have changed since then. There wasn’t social media or internet trolls when William and Kate were children.”

The pair are said to be moving away from the mentality of the stiff upper lip and some of the traditions of the Firm.

The source revealed that the prince is just known as George and school, and said: “He mixes with children his own age. Kate and William don’t shower him with expensive gifts nor do they over spoil him.

"Despite his future role, they don’t want him to grow up too quickly. He engages in activities similar to any other eight-year-old — playing board games, horse-riding lessons, swimming, baking with his brother and sister, playing football and he can’t wait to start rugby too!”

George is also said to be taking an early interest in philanthropy and is already putting forward ideas on how to make the world a better place.

The young royal was in the stands with his mum and dad at Wembley to see England's heartbreaking loss on penalties to Italy in the final of Euro 2020, and he also watched the game against Germany.

And with the nation excited to see the future king, royal experts say the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will give the world "periodic glimpses of him, but ensures he otherwise has the privacy which he needs whilst he grows up".
