Prince William and Prince Charles will lead a summit meeting within weeks to decide the future of the Royal Family, it has been claimed.

The Prince of Wales will reportedly put plans together alongside the Queen for each working Royal going forward.

Her Majesty will also discuss the number of engagements the Firm takes on as just 15 members take part in more than 3,000 duties per year.

The summit follows the Queen’s confirmation of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s departure from the Royal Family, a decision the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced back in January, 2020.

New plans will also follow Prince Philip's funeral on Saturday.

A source told the Telegraph the summit will begin with working out how many people there are available to achieve the current number of duties.

Currently, Kate Middleton, William, Charles, Princess Anne and the Queen take on the most roles, with the likes of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice also representing their grandmother and the monarchy on occasion.

The source said: "The question is whether you start off by deciding how many patronages and engagements there should be, and then work out how many people are needed to achieve them, or whether you decide how many people there should be, which will dictate how many engagements and patronages they can take on."

It is believed Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex will fill part of Prince Harry and Meghan's role after the pair were invited to stand with the Queen at Christmas.

Prince Charles is said to be leading the upcoming summit as he is next in line for the British throne when the Queen either abdicates or sadly, dies.

Her Majesty laid to rest her husband Prince Philip on Saturday April 17 after the Duke of Edinburgh passed away at his Windsor Castle home.

The death prompted a public discussion about the future of the monarchy as the Queen had relied on Philip as her "strength and stay" throughout her reign.

Charles will also have to decide on who will take up Philip and Harry's patronages, including military titles that need claiming.
