Teacher slept with boy, 14, and claimed she was pregnant when he tried to leave

A teaching assistant had sex with a teenage boy and told him she was pregnant when he tried to break away, police have said.

Fatinah Hossein, 25, even tried to pay off the boy after she had sex with him in an attempt to get him to "drop the charges" against her.

Hossein, of Horsham, West Sussex, even told her victim that she was pregnant in a twisted attempt to manipulate him into staying.

After being arrested in June 2020, Hossein proceeded to carry out a campaign of manipulation against her victim's family.

She created a series of fake social media accounts in an attempt to have one of the boy's family fired from their job and arrested, police say.

The teaching assistant also made "significant threats of harm to the boy and his family" whilst she was out on bail and under investigation by police.

In an appearance at Brighton Brown Court, Hossein pleaded guilty to one count of perverting the course of justice and one count of engaging in sexual activity with a child whilst in a position of trust.

She was jailed for five years and four months, with a judge describing her actions as a "quite remarkable campaign of harassment".

Judge Gold told Hossain her offences were “relentless, wide-ranging and malicious” following the “persistent nature of penetrative activity over time”.

Detectives from the West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit carried out the investigation which ultimately saw Hossein jailed.

Hossein was arrested in June 2020 in the wake of a report she had groomed and had sex with a 14-year-old boy.

She had been working as a cover supervisor and teacher at the time.

Detective Constable Leigh Rankin said: "A sexual relationship continued for several months during which she continued to manipulate the boy's emotions, including claiming that she was pregnant after he had tried to end the relationship.

"Hossain was initially released on bail for further investigation. Following this, the victim, his family and friends suffered a prolonged and complex campaign of behaviour against them in an attempt to derail the investigation and avoid justice.

"Using fake social media accounts Hossain attempted to manipulate other children, with threats being made against at least one other child should they speak to the police.

"Through fake names she made significant threats of harm to the boy and his family and said she’d pay him to “drop the charges"."

After being charged and bailed by magistrates in October 2020, she went on to create a series of fake social media accounts and contacted his family, DC Rankin added.

Hossein will now be a sex offender indefinitely and will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years after she is released from prison.
