Sarah Ferguson has told of the pain at being snubbed for William and Kate’s wedding and felt it was down to her being “not worthy”.
The Cambridges’ wedding at Westminster Abbey, in 2011, was beamed around the world with 1,900 guests and millions watching on.
But Fergie was far away on holiday in Thailand where she had gone to try and take her mind off the hurt after being left out.
Her ex-husband Prince Andrew was there along her daughters Eugenie and Beatrice but she could not be involved in the family occasion.
She had been a close friend of William’s mum Princess Diana and she had walked down the aisle several years after the Princess of Wales to marry Andrew at the Abbey in 1986.
Fergie told Town and Country Magazine: “"I didn’t think I was probably worthy to go to their wedding. I took myself to Thailand, actually, to be far away from it so that I could try and heal.”
In an earlier Oprah Winfrey interview she had said: "I was not invited, and I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia and … the jungle embraced me.
"It was so difficult. I wanted to be there with my girls, and to be getting them dressed and to go as a family.
"And also, it was so hard because the last bride up that aisle was me."
Still Fergie appears to not be resentful towards William having previously also said that she thinks Diana would be “proud” of him.

She reportedly had said: "I think Diana would be so proud of her son… I really love the feeling that Diana and I both weren't there.
"But I'm here to say how proud she would have been, and Kate looked utterly beautiful."
Fergie did get an invite to Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding but not to the reception at Frogmore House hosted by Prince Charles.
Andrew and Fergie divorced in 1996 but they still both live at Royal Lodge, Windsor.
