Pedestrian killed following Aurora hit-and-run crash; police search for multiple vehicles

Aurora police are searching for the driver or drivers who struck a 35-year-old man in a fatal hit-and-run crash late Tuesday.

According to a news release, police responded to a call at 11:56 p.m. Tuesday at East Colfax Avenue and North Akron Street for a man lying on the ground.

The man, police said, sustained a head injury, and was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The victim would later died from his injuries.

Upon investigation, police determined that the victim was crossing northbound at East Colfax Avenue at North Akron Street. A vehicle struck the man and left the scene, police said. Two vehicles have been identified as possibly being involved in the incident: a white minivan/SUV and a small, white sedan with dark-tinted windows.

Investigators will continue working to identifying the vehicles and their drivers involved in this crash. The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim once his next-of-kin has been notified.
