The birthday of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's daughter Lilibet Diana will coincide with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Her Majesty.

Lilibet will celebrate her first birthday on June 4 this year, the same day festivities are to be held celebrating the Queen's 70 years as the UK's reigning monarch.

Just two days before, on June 2, the anniversary of the reigning monarch's 1953 coronation at Westminster Abbey is to be celebrated.

The Queen ascended to the throne after her father King George VI suddenly died, with her coronation period postponed for 16 months for a period of mourning.

Celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee will be carried out from June 2 to June 5, with an extended bank holiday, Buckingham Palace has announced.

Lilibet's birthday coincides with the Queen's planned attendance at the Espom Downs Derby as well as the BBC's Platinum Party at the Palace concert, which will be broadcast live from Buckingham Palace.

The concert is set to feature some big name entertainment, but details have yet to be revealed about the royal concert lineup.

Other events that weekend include Trooping the Colour (annual public festivities for the Queen's birthday), the lighting of Platinum Jubilee beacons, a Big Jubilee Lunch and Platinum Jubilee Pageant as well as a service of thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral.

The Queen has not yet met baby Lilibet, whose name is inspired by a childhood nickname of the long-reigning monarch, in person.

A source told People that the Queen had seen the newly born baby girl on a video call shortly after the birth.

The source also said that Meghan, 40, and Harry, 37, "were very excited and couldn't wait to share that their daughter had arrived".

It is unclear if Prince Harry and his family will attend this year's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
