Speaking to France 24, the Daily Beast world editor Nico Hines attacked French President Emmanuel Macron’s entire coronavirus response. He took aim at the President’s flip-flopping over vaccine supplies and furiously attacked Mr Macron’s spreading of fear over the AstraZeneca vaccine’s safety, which has led to a meagre 20% of the French population trusting the Oxford made jab. He branded Mr Macron as shameless and dangerous for his poor response throughout the pandemic.

Mr Hines said: “I don’t know how he can show his face in all honesty.

“It is so embarrassing.”

He went on to say Donald Trump did a better job than President Macron in his pandemic response.

He added: “Imagine being shown up by the prescience and wisdom of Donald J. Trump.”

Mr Hines continued: “Not only that but when there was a perfectly good vaccine available, the AstraZeneca that came to France, Macron was on television telling people it was dangerous and that they probably shouldn’t take it and it wouldn’t work anyway.”

He added: “It’s amazing that Macron can keep holding his head high.

“I can’t imagine how angry people are right now who have been locked into their homes in France.”

He concluded by saying “the guy is having an absolutely disastrous lockdown situation.”

Macron: Expert looks at reaction to pandemic response

The damming comments come after German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Mr Macron video-called Russian President Vladimir Putin to investigate ways the Russian Sputnik V vaccine could be made available in the EU.

The bizarre move from the flailing pair comes despite the Sputnik V vaccine not being approved for use in the bloc, while the AstraZeneca one is.

Commentators slammed the extraordinary move as “undermining consensus” of Western nations, who have placed sanctions on Russia following the Salisbury nerve agent poisonings in 2018.

Speaking to Jeremy Vine earlier this week, commentator Henry Bonsu said “vaccine hesitancy caused by Chancellor Merkel and French President Emmanuele Macron” has led to “a far lower proportion” of the German and French population getting jabbed.

France is currently in lockdown following a third covid wave which has wreaked havoc across the country.

Reports suggest intensive care units in France are at 400 percent capacity. Earlier figures suggested, at its peak before lockdown, one person was admitted to ICU every 12 minutes.

In a televised address this week, Mr Macron warned the country would “lose control if we do not move now”.

He introduced restrictions including closing non-essential shops and shutting schools for three weeks after Easter.
