Kate Middleton has visited an RAF base and spoken with troops on Prince Harry's birthday.

The Duchess of Cambridge had not been photographed in public since her appearance at the Euro 2020 final.

She met with the heroes who helped evacuate Afghans from their country last month, as the Taliban seized control of the nation.

A photographer was at hand to capture the moment Kate was greeted by military personnel, at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Wednesday afternoon.

Kate who arrived via helicopter before being escorted by car at the base, will speak with those who helped airlift more than 15,000 people out of Kabul in Operation Pitting.

Of those rescued were 850 Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (Arap) applicants and their dependents who were safely taken back to RAF Brize Norton.

They have since received food, clothing, children's toys and medical help while their details are processed.

The entire fleet of Brize Norton's RAF transport aircraft was deployed for Operation Pitting, to support the massive evacuation effort.

Afghan refugees thought to be the most at risk from Taliban's violent rule will be able to resettle permanently in the UK, the government confirmed this week.

Kate arrived at the base at 2:15pm, hours after she and husband Prince William wished Harry the best for his 37th birthday.

Despite reported tensions between the brothers since Harry and Meghan left the UK for the US, it appears relations are not damaged enough to not wish one another a happy birthday.

The photo used by the Cambridges' official Twitter account shows a smiling Harry all suited and booted.
