A cruel dog owner was filmed abandoning his dog on the side of a road and drove off before it chased after him in a heartbreaking video.
Luis Antonio Campos, 68, was arrested on a charge of animal cruelty after the cameraman reported the incident to the police on Friday (July 25) and sent the video as evidence.
Video widely shared on social media shows a Jeep passenger taking a 10-month-old husky to the side of a road in Horizon City, Texas, US.
He removes the collar from the dog and gets into the car, leaving the husky on the road, before an elderly man drives off.
The pooch immediately chases after the car but struggles to keep up the pace.
He was luckily rescued by the cameraman and brought to the El Paso County Sheriff's Department.
Dog lover Esmie, who shared the footage on her Instagram, was infuriated and blasted the owner's irresponsibility to the pets.
She wrote: "This heartbreaking scene is what happens day in and day out here. They [pet owners] didn't measure the responsibility that being a pet owner requires and instead of, against taking responsibility and reaching out for help from a rescue, they opt to dump their poor dog.

"I am disgusted, I am furious and I am heartbroken. El Paso needs to do better."
Many viewers felt the same as Esmie and were left heartbroken seeing the dog being left abandoned on the road.
One wrote: "The dog running to chase the owners is what hurts my heart the most. Poor baby deserves the best in life after this."
"That's f***ing low," a second criticised. "I have no idea how people can do something like this. It's so wrong."
Officials at the El Paso County Sheriff's Department on Friday arrested Luis Antonio Campos.

Their statement read: "On July 20th, the Horizon City Police and the El Paso County Animal Welfare Department was dispatched to Ascencion and Temperance in reference to an abandoned canine.
"The canine was abandoned on the side of the roadway and a witness at the scene provided the video that is currently begin shared on social media, the canine is in good health and has been placed with a local animal rescue stakeholder.
"The Sheriff’s Office detective assigned to the Animal Cruelty Unit is currently assigned the case for investigation and we will provide additional information as it becomes available.
“These crimes against our voiceless animal victims are taken seriously and we actively seek to hold suspects accountable for these cruel acts."
The husky, now named Nanook by the rescuers at Huckleberry Hound Dog Rescue of El Paso, has been adopted by a family.
Barbara Valencia from the animal shelter said Nanook was in a good condition but had a lot of ticks.
She added: "The family reached out and said they would love to give the puppy a wonderful home.
"We vetted them very quickly. They passed all of the criteria and so they were able to pick him up yesterday (July 21)."
