Customers at Aldi have been issued with a new set of rules for shopping there during the coronavirus outbreak.
But rather than be taken aback, most have been singing the praises of the German supermarket, its staff and its management.
Aldi has been leading the way when it comes to supermarket responses to the growing threat caused by the coronavirus outbreak – and it's latest move has drawn serious praise from shoppers.
In a post on its Facebook page, Aldi wrote: "At a time like this, we need to work together. We're doing all we can to make sure communities have what they need, but we need your help too – here's how…"
It then listed four key rules:
- Please be mindful of social distance and give space to our teams when completing your transaction
- Were possible please use contactless or card payments
- Buy only what you need – our stores are being replenished every day
- Wash your hands often and avoid contact with eyes, nose and mouth
The post has been shared and liked thousands of time – with shoppers queueing up to praise the instructions.
Sara May wrote: "Would be really nice if people would listen to the advice given.
"I've got 3 children, a family of 5. I popped into your Cardiff Bay store this evening after work, all I could get was a steak pie, a piece of Gammon and 4 burgers, bananas, lettuce, cucumber and 2 boxes of cereal.
"There was no fresh or frozen meat left, no bread, no bread rolls, no fresh or frozen veg and no milk.
"The shelves were bare, through no fault of Aldi's.
"School children are now off school for the foreseeable and still need feeding ! Please think of others before stockpiling stuff that you don't need.
"To the whole company for being thoughtful in your starting the maximum buy policy.

"I went today and found everything l need and shouldn't need to replenish for a week."
But the biggest theme was praise for the staff.
Helen Bartholomew wrote: "A shout out to all of your team members, they are working so hard to keep everyone happy, hope you are paying them bonuses."

Over the last week, Brits have resorted to panic buying prompted by fears the UK could soon go on lockdown due to the coronavirus.
It started with anti-bacterial hand-gel, then cleaning products, and finally produce, as people ransacked shelves at Tesco, Sainsbury’s Asda, Lidl and Aldi.
Supermarkets have since been forced to impose rationing and alter opening times to cope with demand.
Social media has since been flooded with pictures of barren shops, alongside captions pleading for people to think of the elderly and those in need.

Posting an image of an ambulance worker in an empty store, North West London Ambulance Service asked Brits to think of those “looking after your health”.
North West London Ambulance service said: “A consequence of panic buying… please think of those at work looking after your health or other key workers who can’t get to the shops till the end of the day #COVID19 #ThinkBeforeYouPick.”
Re-posting the image to Facebook, one individual said: “Saw this photo on Facebook and it’s shocking.
“Most of us who work for the NHS can’t shop at normal times and then are left this after stockpilers take it all.
“What sort of community is this?!”
In a different post, one woman shared an image of a friend’s trolley, who had been working 12 hour shifts.
The trolley contained a small pizza, bacon, uncle been’s rice, crisps, orange juice, gammon and shampoo and conditioner.
She said it was the “first change” her friend had to get to the supermarket and the items were “all she could get for her, her partner and son”.
Urging people to think twice, she said: “Listen up guys, this is the result of #PanicBuying.
“My colleague is on 12 hours shifts this week, she is exhausted.
“It’s the first chance she’s had to get to the supermarket and this is all she could get for her, her partner and son.
“Please show some respect for others. #COVID19UK.”
