The Labour Party’s Jon Ashworth blasted Sajid Javid’s decision to relax the compulsory wearing of masks on public transport from July 19. The Shadow Health Secretary demanded the UK Government reverse the guidance before next Monday during a fierce clash in the House of Commons.
Mr Ashworth said: “It is not good enough to say travel or go to the shops at less busy times.
“Of course he [Javid] understands the importance of masks because I have now read his pandemic paper from Harvard that he likes to refer to.
“And he praises the use of masks in this paper.”
The Labour MP added: “Let’s have a U-turn on mask-wearing.
“Yes, let’s have freedom but not a high-risk free-for-all.
“Keep masks, for now, fix sick pay and let’s unlock in a safe and sustainable way.”
